El 16 de enero de 1920, los Estados Unidos de América entraron a una de las épocas más oscuras en su historia, una época en que el crimen se apoderó de las grandes cuidades, en que todo funcionario podía estar al servicio de cualquiera por el precio correcto, en que las calles empezaron a mancharse con la sangre de inocentes. Consecuencia irónica de una noble acciónpreventiva: la prohibición del alcohol.
En poco tiempo, metrópolis en toda la Unión Americana empezaron a caer bajo el dominio de criminales como Al Capone, George Morgan o Johnny Turrio, todos obteniendo grandes sumas de dinero con el tráfico de alcohol.
